Throwing a memorable first birthday party is every mom’s DREAM! I loved how excited my little boy was to see his house decorated with his favorite Mickey Mouse characters!

If I’m being honest, I didn’t always dream of being a dental hygienist(although I do love it!).
I wanted to be a PARTY PLANNER!
I love putting together any kind of party and went a little extravagant on my son’s first birthday. lol But, don’t we all?!?
It’s your baby’s SPECIAL DAY! So, instead of using the saying “go big or go home”….I “went big AT home”
He was in AWE when he saw his house TRANSFORMED into a Mickey Mouse paradise! And I loved every second of his excitement!
1. Baby Name Stacked Boxes
So! To start, I kept my old larger, similar sized Amazon boxes and wrapped them in red and yellow wrapping paper(alternating with red and yellow)!
I ordered these letters to spell my son’s name and spray painted them black.
Then, I used a hot glue gun to glue them to the front of the boxes and lay them flat while they dried.
And simply, stacked them behind his high chair!
They turned out SO CUTE!
I also ordered this Mickey Mouse party pack (includes balloons, the high chair banner, happy birthday banner etc) that I used throughout the house!
The Mickey Mouse car beside the high chair was purchased at Walmart! Here is a similar Mickey Mouse car if you’re looking!
2. The Backdrop
I always want some sort of backdrop behind the main table as a focal point!!
When you put so much effort into the decorations, you want this to be the first thing that catches everyone’s eye when they arrive!
I used this black and white striped backdrop and hung it on my wall with push pins. (I use it for several other parties throughout the year, as well!)
The black Mickey Mouse head on the backdrop is cut out of black foam board that I purchased at Dollar Tree!
I used black plastic rectangular tablecloths from Dollar Tree, that I kept folded longways, to make a border around the backdrop(I’m a fan of clean lines! lol).
I did purchase this balloon garland that would’ve been very cute as a border but we ended up putting it somewhere else!
3. Table featuring Mickey’s Suspenders
I started with a red rectangular tablecloth and two black tablecloths(leaving the black ones folded long ways).
Make sure NOT to unfold any of the black tablecloths if you want to keep clean lines! They won’t look the same if you try to refold them.
Lay the black tablecloths vertically across the red tablecloth as pictured.
Then, out of white posterboard, I cut two large circles and attached them to the bottom of the black tablecloths. Making the buttons on Mickey’s suspenders!
You can also use white paper plates if you’d like!
4. Dessert Table
This was my favorite part!! If you’re like me, with party planning anyway, I’m looking to make an IMPACT.
So, the dessert table has to be the cutest!!
It starts with creating different levels to set your desserts on.
I wrapped old Amazon boxes in the red and yellow wrapping paper and placed them along the back of the table.
Next, I made the smaller stands with a red porcelain bowl (flipped upside down) and black chargers! All from dollar tree!(Pictured below)
Just hot glue them together!
I bought red Jello cups, added whipped cream to the top, and placed two mini Oreos on each one, to resemble Mickey’s ears!
We did order cupcakes from a local bakery (in place of a cake) and put these cupcake toppers on each one.
I placed all of the desserts on cupcake display stands that my sister already had BUT I found these on Amazon, if you happen to be looking!
The red and yellow cups on the outside edges are a chocolate drizzled popcorn dessert. It was sooo good!
I called it “Mickey Munch”. Click here for the recipe I used!
5. Hot Diggity Dog Food Bar
Buffet style is my GO-TO!
And I love putting out little signs with cute names for every dish.
Hot dogs are the easiest because you can put them in the crockpot to keep them warm! Easy-peasy.
Hot Diggity Dog Bar
Donald’s Deviled Eggs
Pluto’s Pasta
Mickey’s Mac -N- Cheese
One had a Ritz cracker topping and the other was plain for the kiddos.
Mickey Mouse Magic Mimosas (Adults Only!)
This is just an option of course! But my friends enjoyed it! lol
Equal parts pineapple juice, orange juice, & champagne with strawberries and sliced oranges to make it pretty.
And it was pushed back from the counter’s edge and monitored closely to be sure no little ones accidentally drank any.
6. Number “1” Photo Wall
This was slightly time consuming but FUN! And adorable.
I used 71 pictures all together. 35 Vertical 4 x 6’s made the solid part of the “1” and a 9 count of 3 x 5’s to make the top point of the “1”.
Then, I mixed 3×5’s and 4×6’s to make the base. It was so cute!!
And it was a great conversation starter as your guests get to enjoy the memories of your baby’s first year (I’m not crying, you’re crying).
The “Handy Helper” was the silverware and we named the drinks “Tootle’s Tea” and “Daisy Duck’s Delightful Drink”-it was blue Hawaiian Punch!
7. Table Settings
My husband always makes fun of me for having “too many” tables but they come in handy! lol
I ordered these plates (they have red or yellow available).
I picked up these Mickey Mouse cups and the little hats came from Walmart!
I decided to decorate our back porch as well!
We were lucky to have a warm day in November!
8. Final Details
Now, you can add final details and decor in any empty areas!
I picked up these party favors at Walmart but found these Mickey Mouse party favors as a cute option!!
Enjoy celebrating your beautiful baby’s FIRST BIRTHDAY!
